What is Chemical Peel ?
Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin that is typically performed on the face, neck, hands or any area of the body. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother, more even-toned, and less wrinkled than the older skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun. There are 3 types of chemical peels: deep peeling, medium peeling and superficial peeling. Superficial chemical peeing is mild as it treats only the outer layers of the skin. It can be beneficial in treating mild cases of acne and in providing a general glow to the face. Deep and medium chemical peelings are to be performed only by specialized physicians with high level of expertise. The most common candidate for a chemical peel is a person with Acne, sun-damaged skin, uneven pigmentation, and/or very early precursor for skin cancers called actinic keratoses. Chemical peels can also be used to treat other areas of the body such as the neck, décolleté,
hands, arms, shoulders, and back.
