Dr Ramzi Alameddine

Meet our specialist in Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic surgery. Dr. Ramzi Alameddine is head of division of Ocular & Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the American University of Beirut (AUBMC). He is also the Medical Director of the Ophthalmology clinics and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology.

His clinical interests include facial rejuvenation, aesthetic injectables and energy-based devices, thyroid eye disease, endoscopic lacrimal & aesthetic surgery, and complex oculofacial reconstructions.

Dr Alameddine is a graduate of the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Shiley Eye Institute where he completed an ASOPRS accredited fellowship. He also completed clinical clerkships at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard University), Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (University of Miami), and Jules Stein eye institute (UCLA).

Dr Alameddine deeply believes in outreach and volunteerism. As an undergraduate student, he was a member of the Lebanese Red Cross Youth department. In medical school, he was elected as the National Officer of the Standing Committee on Human Rights, part of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA). He helped organize relief efforts for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and operate a multidisciplinary outreach clinic at a refugee camp in Lebanon.

Dr. Alameddine chose Oculoplastic as this specialty combines his love for Ophthalmology and Surgery. He also enjoys teaching and academia and is actively involved in teaching residents and medical students at the AUB medical center.
